Schiaparelli: what's gold will shine!

The house has boldly been incorporating gold plating in its last few collections, which has helped to revamp its status. However, Schiaparelli had an even wilder trick up their sleeve this time. Lions, she-wolves, and 30.000 Swarovski crystals made marks at its Spring 2023 Couture show, which was based on the epic 14th-century poem by Dante Alighieri: Dante's Inferno.

The show featured sharp silhouettes, bold color combinations, the finest tailoring, and many black pieces. The true eyecatcher, however, was the incorporation of savage beasts. Kylie Jenner attended the show in an unpreviewed lion-head black gown, as well as Irina Shayk wearing a similar style as she debuted it on the runway. But also, runway legend Naomi Campbell ferociously strutted down the runway in a bold faux-fur coat, finished with a resin-made head of a noir she-wolf. Although this was fastly met with criticism, it seemed a part of the show's premise. It made me rethink moral dilemmas and reconsider the industry's impact on wildlife. This tapped into Dante's Divine on the underlying coherence between contrasting entities. There's no paradise without purgatory, no joy without sorrow, and no merit without sacrifice...

The outstanding creativity of past seasons had me wondering what's next. After all, what is gold, is not easily outshined. However, Daniel Roseberry stays brilliant. Could this be the house's most remarkable statement to date? I could not imagine which creative direction they'll go into next.
Luckily, Schiaparelli is not letting up and keeps surprising us every season!
